Tammi J. Meehan is an artist based in New York City. Sixteen years later, Meehan received a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA. In 2019, Meehan integrated her counseling practice, focusing on Art Therapy, with her studio practice. As a practicing psychotherapist, Meehan’s interest in Jungian Psychology, Neuroscience, Quantum Physics and Spiritualism are recognizable influences.

Meehan is an intuitive painter with work spanning more than three decades. Her visual dialogue stems from inner visions that can be described as both primordial and futuristic. The work is blatant and obvious at times, and denotes a clear love affair with the visceral experience of painting interwoven with philosophical questions, commentaries and cosmic ideas. A clear passion for color and texture, Meehan uses acrylic and oil paint, oil stick, dry pigment, charcoal and graphite to create magnificent surfaces that flirt with the viewer and the impulse to touch. Much of Meehan’s current work reflects panoramic visions and portrayals of ideas and concepts imagined while engaged in trance-like meditation. Being the non-judgmental observer, ideas, images and forms shift and prod. Meehan’s creations represent eclectic integrations of conceptual methodologies, cosmic symbolism, archetypal visions and stylistic diversity. She taps into the collective psyche and creates depictions of delving into a deeper spiritual realm with confidence and finesse.
